Kessel and Bonino both with career high points in destruction of Detroit!

One player scoring 5 points in one game is great, but two is always better.

That was the case yesterday for the Penguins. Phil Kessel and Nick Bonino both had a goal and 4 assists, setting new career high marks for points in one game. Bonino was even a game time decision since he was dealing with an upper body injury. I think they made the right call to let him play. The duo was all over the Wings who have been struggling as of late and showed no pity while continuing to put up points.

Their career nights helped the Penguins pick up a big two points as they continue to push towards climbing up the standings of the Metropolitan division. The Pens remained 1 point up on the Islanders and are still four points back of the Rangers for second place.

The news wasn't all good as Chris Kunitz left the game due to an injury. The Penguins just lost Olli Maatta to injury and it isn't the time of year to start losing all kinds of players to different injuries.

The Pens will look to pick up wins on consecutive days with a big game in New York against the Rangers tonight.
