Kessel offers the weirdest message to his new fans in Arizona

There is no more waiting to see Phil Kessel in an Arizona Coyotes jersey, the star forward showed up at his first team press conference Tuesday, wearing the fan-favouriteKachina jersey.

Kessel met with reporters and once again explained his preference to join head coach Rick Tocchet and also pointed to being excited about joining a team with young talent.

He of course commented on his journey with the Penguins and how he came to be traded.

“My time in Pittsburgh was coming to an end, and I felt that, but I think it is a great situation for me [in Arizona] and I wanted to be a part of that.”

While Kessel keeps saying he wants to be part of what’s happening in Arizona to help the Coyotes evolve as a contender, it sure feels like he should have been more convincing with the message he shared with fans on social media.

Awkwardly standing in front of the camera, Kessel only says he is excited in the weirdest and less convincing way possible.

Check it out:

While we know the man isn’t the most outgoing person in the NHL, he could have made an effort…

The summer was quite eventful for the veteran forward, he who nixed a trade proposal that would have sent him to the Minnesota Wild in May in return for Jason Zucker. The Penguins continued to test the market for Kessel and eventually completed a deal on June 29th to send the veteran winger to Arizona in return for Alex Galchenyuk and prospect Pierre-Olivier Joseph.

We sure hope he will get more excited as time goes by in Arizona, especially seeing that  as he closes in on milestones like 1,000 NHL games, 400 goals and even eventually 900 and 1,000 points individually…

We will see how excited he gets…
