It has been a very busy couple of days in the National Hockey League and it looks like for now at least that the trend is going to continue well into the night. There have been a number of signings over the last hour with the most notable being those of forward Kevin Labanc, forward Cody Eakin, and forward Jesper Fast with all 3 men earning multi year deals with significant paydays, albeit from 3 different teams around the National Hockey League.

The least sexy of the 3 will be the signing of Kevin Labanc who will remain a member of the San Jose Sharks for the foreseeable future. Labanc has reportedly agreed to a 4 year deal that will pay him an average of $4.75 million per season, that works out to $18.9 million over the length of his contract. This deal is no doubt part of the deal that Labanc struck with the Sharks last year when he gave the Sharks what looked like a major discount on a one year deal, and frankly I think it looks good on the Sharks for honoring that agreement in spite of Labanc having a bit of a down year.

In the case of the other two men they will both be playing for new teams, so let's begin with Cody Eakin. The former Golden Knight turned Winnipeg Jet as agreed to a two year deal with the Buffalo Sabres, one that will pay him an average annual value of $2.25 million which works out to a total of $4.5 million over the length of the deal. Eakin spent 41 games with the Golden Knights last season, picking up 4 goals and 6 assists, and he added another goal and 4 more assists over 8 games with the Jets. That all works out to a 49 game season in which he had 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points.

Fast on the other hand spent his entire season with the Rangers, tallying 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points over 69 games last season, and that has earned him a new contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. That deal will be a 3 year contract with an average annual value of $2 million per season, or a total of $6 million over the length of the contract.
