What are they trying to say?

We don’t know if it’s because Washington Capitals’ captain Alex Ovechkin is approaching Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record, but the KHL posted a strange tweet on Tuesday that got fans talking.

As you know, Ovechkin has now posted a total of 695 goals ahead of Tuesday night’s action against the Los Angeles Kings and dreams of breaking the Great One’s record of 894.

He once said that if he can pull it off, he would retire from the NHL right away. Would he move back to Russia and join a KHL team?

We ask because the KHL’s official Twitter account posted the picture of an Ovechkin jersey on Tuesday, which got a lot of fans talking.

Is the league trying to lure him back? Are they looking to get him back in Russia before he attempts to break Gretzky’s record?

What does it all mean?

Fans are quite vocal about the tweet, telling the KHL straight up: "Keep your hands off him."

Yeah, they probably expected this to happen. They got us.
