KHL superstar drops hints about coming to the NHL.
Keystone Press

Earlier in the month we reported on the potential return of Kontinental Hockey League superstar Ilya Kovalchuk and now there are even more signs that he is looking at a comeback to North America.

According to a report from one of Russia's premier hockey reporters, Aivis Kalnins, Kovalchuk has once again made comments that very much indicate that a return to the National Hockey League is very much on the table.

'We will see, everything is possible," said Kovalchuk. "Why couldn't I return to NHL? I'll have all options open that can benefit my career.''

It needs to be noted that his current team, SKA St. Petersburg, has no intention of letting him go and they have in fact already started negotiating with his representation on a new deal. With that said Kovalchuk has previously stated he wants to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Alexander Radulov, and SKA's best efforts failed to convince Radulov to remain in the KHL.
