Boston Bruins backup goaltender Anton Khudobin missed practice today with what has been described as a ‘lower body injury’. Coach Bruce Cassidy is optimistic that he will be back quickly, but his situation remains unclear.

According to Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, the coaching staff hopes to be able to dress Khudobin this weekend before the end of the pre-season. The netminder is expected to assume the backup role to Tuukka Rask, with Malcolm Subban and Zane McIntyre not cutting it in camp.

Khudobin is expected to play upwards of 20 games this season, as the Bruins want to limit Rask’s starts to about 60. The backup posted a respectable 7-6-1 record in ’16-17, with a 0.904 save percentage and 2.64 goals against average.
