Kings/Avalanches: a trade in the making?

Looks like the Kings are working the phone.

The Los Angeles Kings are 1 point short of a wild card spot in the western conference with 2 games in hand on the Vancouver Canucks. Still, Dean Lombardi wants to go all-in with the acquisition of Gabriel Landeskog, one of Colorado's core player, according to Adrian Dater.

The Kings sacrificed so many first pick while building towards a 2-time Stanley Cup that they could be reluctant to trade their prospect away... But, they have some depth at the defensive position.

While Drew Doughty isn't going anywhere, it's hard to say the same for Jake Muzzin ($4M in cap hit for the next 3 years) or Alec Martinez ($4M in cap hit for the next 4 years). Colorado could also be looking for a deal including Derek Forbot who's having a breakout year for the Kings. If Joe Sakic is looking at Forbot, he will have to take another contract from the Kings as Forbot is only signed for $650.000. Someone like Dustin Brown or Marian Gaborik.
