Kings become second team to clinch a playoff spot

The Kings have really bounced back after missing the playoffs last season, So much so that even with 11 games still left to play, they have clinched a playoff spot.

The Pacific division this season has told two different stories. You have the powers (Kings, Ducks, Sharks) then you have the others. The Kings are currently up by 6 points on Anaheim for the division lead with San Jose just 1 point behind the Ducks. That is when the separation happens. Arizona is 17 points behind San Jose. In a league where they want parity throughout, the Pacific division shows otherwise. Not to take anything away form the Kings, but it is sad to see a division that if you have a winning record, you make the playoffs.

All this aside. The Kings have really been great this season. They have reclaimed their position as a power house in the league and will once again look to do some damage in the playoffs. Jonathan Quick has been great and Anze Kopitar who resigned long term with the team has really upped his play and has been a force for the Kings. So now it is just a question if they can clinch home ice advantage during the playoffs. The story is pretty much the same every season. At some point they will have to go through one of their west coast rivals to make it to the Cup final. Once there, they definitely know how to get it done!

Go Kings Go!
