The Edmonton Oilers, coming off a strong performance against the b on Monday night, put forth another disappointing game last night in a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings

The Oilers surrendered a goal on the game’s opening shot for the ninth time this season, and put themselves behind 2-0 early on.

Captain Connor McDavid managed to make a game of things in the second period, tying the goal with another highlight reel beauty, but that was as close as the Oilers came.

To be fair, the Oilers absolutely POURED it on during the second frame, outshooting the Kings 15-1 at one point. But, as we’ve seen so often with the Oilers this season, the wheels came off in the third period. The Oilers surrendered three unanswered goals and ended up on the wrong side of a 5-2 hockey game.

Before the game though, the Kings’ social media team had Oilers fans in an uproar when they took a cheap shot at McDavid.

Check it out:

Biggest fan? Real classy there, Kings social media team. That “fan” just happens to be the reigning league MVP and inarguably the most exciting player in hockey these days.

Oh… and he also managed to walk Drew Doughty on that second period tally. But, yeah he’s a “fan”. Seriously, what’s up with social media these days? Why does every team feel the need to be such a smart ass online?
