The Los Angeles Kings have made a big signing, and one that justifies the trade they made on Wednesday.

According to an official press release the Kings have signed Bokondji Imama, whom they acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a trade yesterday for a 7th round draft pick. From the Kings official website:

The LA Kings have signed forward Bokondji "Boko" Imama to a three-year entry-level contract, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.

The 20-year-old Imama (born Aug 3, 1996) is a 6-1, 221-pound native of Montreal, Quebec who appeared in 66 regular-season games this past season with the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL), posting 55 points (41-14=55), a plus-11 rating and 105 penalty minutes while serving as the assistant captain for the second year.

This is Imama's first NHL contract so there was not much to negotiate in terms of salary or term on this deal, and it was expected that the Kings would sign him following the trade but given the extremely limited window they had to do so there was some lingering doubt.

If Imama's skills can translate to the NHL level this will be a very solid use of a 7th round pick from the Kings.
