Kings stepping up their trade pitch to land Nylander?!

The Los Angeles Kings landed forward Carl Hagelin from the Pittsburgh Penguins in return for Tanner Pearson earlier this week, and many believe the struggling team isn’t done.

They could also be going all out to make the most significant trade out there this season as the coveted Toronto Maple Leafs free agent William Nylander seems to gather the interest of every team out there.

If Nylander can’t or won’t sign in Toronto, the speculation is that the Leafs will flip him to a team like the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks or Philadelphia Flyers for some defensive help. The names Jaccob Slavin, Brett Pesce, Brandon Montour, Travis Sanheim and Sam Morin have all been brought up when discussing Nylander’s potential trade destinations. The Kings, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers are also reportedly inquired about the possibility of landing the young forward, and Los Angeles could be looking to step up their trade pitch to become the best contender.

According to team insider Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period, the Kings had already talked to GM Kyle Dubas about Nylander earlier this season, and could go ahead and push the talks further now that the Dec. 1st deadline is fast approaching. It’s possible that the Maple Leafs and Kings trade talk could expand into ‘blockbuster status’ and include Tyler Toffoli. Who knows Drew Doughty could be put in the mix!

On top of that, the Kings clearly need to retool and get younger faster player and Nylander could surely lead the way.

Dubas however remains set on coming to terms with Nylander, though has admitted that he needs to start looking into the possibility of moving him to a rival team if an agreement cannot be reached between both parties.

The Kings might go all in on this one…
