Kings take a shot at Don Cherry with new intermission segment called “Not Coaches Corner”

Um… excuse me!? This is sacrilege!

In case you missed it last night, the Los Angeles Kings unveiled a new intermission segment during their game against the visiting Vancouver Canucks and… well let’s just say that fans north of the U.S. / Canada border aren’t exactly happy with it.

The segment is called “Not Coaches Corner” with “Not Don Cherry”…

Alrighty then I guess I’ll NOT be watching it…

In all seriousness though, it’s a pretty lighthearted take on Grapes and the classic Hockey Night in Canada segment Coaches Corner and despite being about 100 pounds heavier than Cherry, the impersonator actually does a pretty good impression.

Check it out:

You know what? I’m sold. This is actually pretty good and I’m willing to bet that Grapes himself would get a kick out of this.

The thing is, NOT Don Cherry didn’t seem to have much of an impact on the Kings are they got beaten up by the Canucks by a score of 5-3 thanks to four point nights from Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson. The Canucks improved to 8-1-1 in their past game, while the Kings continue to sink lower and lower in the NHL standings with a 4-9-0 record. Ouch.

Interestingly enough, last night was just the first time this season the Kings have been outshot, as the Canucks managed to blast 49 pucks on net to the Kings' 25. Double ouch.

Suffice it to say that things do not look good again for the Kings this season and with so many veteran players on long-term contracts, it could be difficult for GM Rob Blake to make some moves on the trade market. Buckle up, Kings fans. This could be another bumpy season.
