The Los Angeles Kings have made a trade with a team that they have developed a pretty heated rivalry with.

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman the Los Angeles Kings have traded away 27 year old defenseman Oscar Fantenberg to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a draft puck. It is still not entirely clear but early reports are suggesting that the return in this particular trade will be a 4th round draft pick from the Calgary Flames.

The move is interesting if only because of the rather heated rivalry that has been building between the Calgary Flames and the Los Angeles Kings as of late, a rivalry that admittedly took a serious hit this year due in large part to the fact that the Kings have been embarrassingly bad at time this season. That rivalry has largely been fueled by the hatred between Los Angeles Kings star defensemam Drew Doughty and Calgary Flames agitator Matthew Tkachuk and it will be interesting to see how a Kings' player fits in with the Flames locker room all things considered.

Uppdate: Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times has more detail:

Kings make it official: Oscar Fantenberg to Calgary for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2020. Fantenberg built off his rookie season and showed he can be an NHL regular. Super nice guy, too.

Stay tuned for more information.
