Coughing the puck up in your own zone giving Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar a 2 on 1 in OT is never a good idea. Most of the time it will end up in the back of your net. Tonight Alex Edler learned the hard way and that was exactly what happened.
Kopitar and Carter were giving Edler space in his zone but were closing the passing lanes. Edler tried to force a puck which ended up being a bad pass that went of his right boards right to Carter. Carter headed straight to the net while Edler charged at him then he slid it over to Kopitar who was waiting for the one timer and Anze fired it home for the win.
3 on 3 overtime is all about quick strikes and playing smart and the Kings had two of the best at that combine for the OT goal. The two great centers of the Kings are very dangerous on 3 on 3 and they showed why. They are so smart when it comes to hockey that they out think you and wear you down. Carter was just waiting for Edler to make a mistake and he did.
The Kings were all over the Canucks all game. Out shooting them 40-16. If not for Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom, this game would have been over way before OT.
