In case you missed it, the Detroit Red Wings were absolutely DEMOLISHED by the Montreal Canadiens last night, losing 8-1 on home ice.

Ouch.

Longtime Red Wings blue liner Nicklas Kronwall did the majority of the post-game analysis reporters last night and didn’t mince words when describing his team’s effort.

“No heart whatsoever,” Niklas Kronwall said. “That was absolutely embarrassing. Our fans deserve a hell of a lot more than that.”

“From the drop of the puck we weren’t even close… the last few days were hard, but you knew they (trades) were coming. It’s the business and we lost a few guys that are popular in the room but… you just gotta play.”

You can see the frustration on Kronwall’s face and here it in his words as he spoke to Wings beat reporter Helene St. James.

Luckily, on unluckily depending on your perspective, the Red Wings will have some time to digest last night’s loss and prepare for their next game as they don’t play until Saturday evening when they play the Arizona Coyotes.

As for Kronwall, it must be tough for the 38 year old defenseman to stomach losses like last night’s. The Stanley Cup champion has been a stalwart on Detroit’s blue line for nearly 15 years now, but with the Red Wings in decline the past few seasons the the Glory Days are clearly over.
