There are rumblings that would suggest unrestricted free agent forward Kyle Clifford has found himself a new home.

According to a report from Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven, Clifford is rumored to have come to terms on a 2 year deal with the St. Louis Blues, the financial terms of that deal have not been disclosed as of yet. Hoven initially reported that the deal was complete, however he has since altered that report to add that the "finishing touches" are being added to this deal, so for now we're reporting this one as just a rumor.

Update: Although we still consider this one a rumor for now, TSN NHL insider Darren Dreger has also echoed the report from Hoven that suggest the St. Louis Blues will in fact be the destination for Kyle Clifford.

Clifford, who turns 30 in January, split last season between the Los Angeles Kings and the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he was traded to prior to the National Hockey League's trade deadline. As a member of the Kings he had 6 goals and 8 assists for a total of 14 points over 53 games, and as a Leaf he collected just 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 total points over his 16 games with that organization. In total that works out to a 69 game season with 7 goals and 10 assists for a total of 17 points.

I think it is safe to suggest that he did not mesh particularly well with the Leafs, and for that reason I'm very interested in learning what the gritty forward has earned on the open market in this peculiar offseason.

Update: NHL insider Pierre LeBrun is reporting this is a done deal, 2 years for a total of $2 million. That works out to an average annual value of $1 million per season, a very reasonable cap hit for the Blues.
