The curse of Taylor Swift?

This has got to be one of the most hilarious cases of hockey superstition I have seen in a very long time, and what makes it all the more funny is that the team has capitulated to the demands of the superstitious.

According to a rather amusing report from Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Kings have just revealed that will now be covering up a banner that hangs in the rafters of the Staples Center for all future home games. The banner is not one that belongs to a rival team, or even a team at all, but rather the banner in question is one that is there to celebrate the "most sold out performances" in Staples Center history, a banner that bears the name of recording artist Taylor Swift.

Now you might be wondering why anyone would care about such a banner hanging over a hockey game, but it sounds like there were in fact a lot of people who did care. In fact it appears there was a large contingent of Los Angeles Kings' fans who felt that the banner was a curse on the team, andf given the timing of the banner's introduction to the rafters they may have a point. The Kings of course won 2 Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014 respectively, and the Taylor Swift banner was then raised to the rafters in 2015. Since that time the Kings have been a shadow of those two championship teams and although some of their players still remain they have come nowhere close to recapturing that former glory. I do have to be honest though, I highly doubt that covering up a banner with Swift's name on it is going to have much of an impact on the performance of the Kings on the ice.

It is worth mentioning that the Kings are actually not the first team to make this move, with the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association also covering up the swift banner during their home games at the Staples Center. The Staples Center itself has made it clear that this decision was not made by them, but rather was made solely by the Los Angeles Kings organization.

What do you guys think? Reasonable? Or Crazy?
