Laine outrages fans when asked about ongoing slump!

This is an insult. What a slap in the face.

The Winnipeg Jets are facing the Colorado Avalanche later tonight and fans are hoping it will be the game in which Patrik Laine finds his scoring touch once again and finally puts one at the back of the net.

It has been 38 days, and counting, since Laine scored an NHL goal and for the past weeks, he had been hiding from media members instead of facing the music about his scoring slump. Finally on Tuesday, he met with reporters after his team’s practice, however, his comments were quite shocking, almost insulting for fans and for the team hoping he will get back to scoring to help them in the playoff chase.

However, Laine did not appear to understand how important it is for him to get offensive again. Well, he was offensive - if you know what I mean - but not in the way Jets fans hoped he would be. Here is what he said, per the Winnipeg Free Press:

“I’m not worrying about that too much. It’s just hockey. It’s not the end of the world. Just try to do my best this year as well as I can, and always leave it here and just be like a normal person off the ice,” said Laine, who is stuck on 25 goals for the season.

It’s just hockey? Come on, boy, you get paid to play and let’s us remind you you could be getting a nice hefty contract this summer:  you need to perform for it!

Laine and the rest of his teammates enjoyed two days off before coming back to the rink on Tuesday, and Laine admitted that he didn’t think about hockey once…

“Not doing anything, including hockey. Just hang out at home, doing something with my dad. Just try to get away from hockey for a bit, and just try to get some rest,” he said.

We all know he loves playing Fortnite - let’s hope he didn’t spend all of his time on the game console… Laine believes he is doing a lot of good things on the ice and that should be enough for fans.

“I think it’s getting better. Obviously I’m not scoring, but overall it’s OK. Creating chances, playing OK defence. Not allowing that many goals anymore, as a line. So that’s obviously good. There’s always room to improve. But I think it’s decent right now,” Laine said about the state of his game.

Let’s hope he gives us more tonight…
