Lance Bouma to Miss “a Few Weeks”

For the second time this season, Calgary Flames forward Lance Bouma will be sidelined for an extended period of time, the team announced Tuesday evening.

Bouma is set to miss “a few weeks” after suffering a lower-body injury in the third period of Monday’s loss to the San Jose Sharks.

“Bouma’s going to be out, again, quite a bit of time. A few weeks,” said head coach Bob Hartley on Tuesday.

Bouma missed 30 games at the start of the season with a broken fibula suffered on October 13. He’s been able find his way into just 11 games this season.

“It’s a tough year, for sure,” Bouma said. “We’re not sure yet about the timeline, but it looks good because there’s no tendon damage so that’s nice. The biggest thing is letting the cut heal and then go from there.”

The pair of injuries is making it difficult for the 25-year-old to build on last year’s success, when he posted career-high totals of 16 goals and 34 points. This season he has just one goal and no assists after signing a three-year contract over the summer with a $2.2 million AAV.
