There is a clear and noticeable tone whenever the number two overall pick in the NHL draft speaks, and it's one of sheer confidence, not arrogance, confidence that has come from his knowledge of his own abilities on the ice.

There are some who have tried to label it as arrogance, and have bristled when Laine has spoken in what some would consider brash terms, but Laine clearly doesn't have time for any of that negativity.

“I know how good I am. I can say that. It’s not a problem for me. If it’s a problem for somebody else, it’s not my problem,” said Laine as per Yahoo's Greg Wyshynski. “I don’t care what people think. I know I’m a good player. I’m going to stick with that.”

It's exactly the kind of attitude you should want to hear form a player selected that high in the draft, and with so many people doubting him it sounds like Laine will be coming into the season with a chip on his shoulder.
