The fans have spoken and they are none too pleased.

Only hours after it was announced that the NHL's Las Vegas expansion team would likely have "Hawks" in their name, it appears that team owner Bill Foley is now backtracking on the idea.

According to Chris Creamer of Sports Logos, Foley and his staff have scrapped the idea after many fans believed the name was too similar to the Blackhawks. The outpouring of negative feedback was quick and a plenty. Many of the disgruntled parties were fans of the Blackhawks, who felt that the new name simply rode on the coattails of the storied Original Six franchise.

Reports indicated that the team had narrowed it's search for a name down to five separate names, with three of those being Las Vegas Nighthawks, the Las Vegas Desert Hawks, or the Las Vegas Red Hawks.

It appears that Bill Foley and Co. will need to get back to the drawing board.
