We all remember when the National Hockey League announced it would not participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and how players were frustrated and disappointed with the decision.

Many superstars, like Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews, New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, were quick to express their unhappiness in a statement with the NHL Players Association.

Now just a few weeks away from the 2018 Olympics, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly was asked about the recent rumor of the possibility of some players skipping the 2018 NHL All-Star to protest the Olympics decision. His answer to The Hockey New’s Ken Campbell is not going to sit well with players...

The deputy commissioner's answer completely insults the players and could have ramifications on the future. The current collective bargaining agreement expires in September 2022, but each side has the choice of opting out in September 2019.

The Winter Olympics could become a bargaining chip in the next round of collective bargaining.

Wow - turned the page?!
