Just a few transactions around the hockey world today after a relatively quiet few weeks in the middle of the offseason.

Up first, Vancouver Canucks prospect Connor Lockhart has been traded in the OHL, going from the Erie Otters to the Peterborough Petes in exchange for Sam Alfano, a third round pick in 2025 and a second round pick in 2026. Lockhart is a former 3rd overall pick in the OHL and is viewed as a possible NHL player in the future. He needs to put on some weight and refine the defensive side of his game but if he can do that he'll be a draft steal for the Canucks (178th overall in 2021).

“Connor was a player we were very high on during his OHL draft year, and we have been following his progress closely since then,” commented Petes GM Michael Oke in a prepared statement. “We look forward to the opportunity to have Connor contribute on the ice, in the locker room, and in the community here in Peterborough, as he brings a strong veteran presence to the Petes.”

Elsewhere, the Minnesota Wild added some depth to their minor league system, signing forward C.J. Yakimowicz to a one year deal. the 26 year old was previously in the St. Louis Blues' organization but the team failed to retain his rights this offseason. He put up two goals and 13 points in 20 games with Dalhousie University this past season. He's a former London Knights and Sudbury Wolves player from his time in the OHL and actually played with future NHL stars Mitch Marner, Bo Horvat and Matthew Tkachuk. It's expected Yakimowicz will suit up for the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL this upcoming season.

Finally, defenseman Teemu Kivihalme has left the Toronto Maple Leafs' organization, opting to reutn home to his native Finland, signing a one year deal with TPS Turku. The 27 year old played 107 games over three seasons with the Leafs' AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies but failed to see any NHL action. He was recalled a handful of times by the Leafs, but was a healthy scratch each time he was called up. He put up just seven points in 32 AHL games last season.
