When rumors began to surface of a potential trade involving Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban the first thing that came to mind was how unbelievable the idea of Montreal trading Subban really was.

Not just because he is arguably one of the team's biggest stars but also due to just how difficult it would be for Montreal to replace his minutes on the blue line through free agency or trades of their own. That situation is compounded when you realize that one of the Habs top options of defense is an aging Andrei Markov who has shown signs of decline.

Despite that the rumors have persisted but now comments from TSN insider Darren Dreger during a radio interview with TSN's 690 Montreal seem to have put those rumors to bed.

"What I know is this, very recently I reached out to a couple of general managers who I know have had some contact with Bergevin over time and one in particular Western Conference general manager, flat out said he asked Bergevin about the availability of P.K. Subban... and he was flat out told he wasn't going to be available."

Dreger would go on to state that the general manager in question informed him this conversation took place two or three weeks ago. It doesn't sound like Subban is moving unless one team makes an offer that simply doesn't make sense.
