His client is clearly not happy.

While by all accounts veteran forward Brooks Laich has handled things well over the past few days, his apparent trade demands and the subsequent reaction from the Leafs has created quite a bit of drama.

Adding fuel to that fire today was Laich's agent, Roy Thompson, who described his client's situation as horrible when speaking to James Mirtle of the Athletic.

“It’s horrible. He’s kind of caught in it, through no fault of his own.”

While Thompson acknowledged that there was no malice here from the Leafs, and that Laich was just the victim of the unfortunate realities of the business of hockey, he also made it crystal clear that Laich was very unhappy.

Despite that, he added that even if Laich is not traded he will continue to honor his contract with the Leafs.
