As you know by now, many trade rumours have been heard on the case of backup goalie Michael Hutchinson, who hasn’t allowed the Toronto Maple Leafs to rest Frederik Andersen as much, and now could be out of playoff contention.

The trade chatter began early in the season and is still hot seeing insiders maintain GM Kyle Dubas will need to upgrade his goaltending situation if he is looking for the Leafs to be a top contender.

However fans are now wondering if the Leafs are even trying to push Hutchinson out of the team by making a disrespectful move on Friday. That’s right, fans and pundits, including TSN’s Shawn Simpson, believe the Leafs are being disrespectful to Hutchinson by giving him the start against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

The Senators are currently 27th in the league and Simpson's colleague Travis Yost pointed out that Hutchinson hasn’t really started against a good team this season.

However, you have to admit that Hutchinson hasn’t proven to the Leafs that he can handle strong teams and collect wins for the club. In 12 games played this season, he has just collected three wins, 3.83 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage.

The decision might look disrespectful to Hutch but it surely is the right one.
