Leafs and Oilers hooking up on a trade?

With the second half of the season underway, the trade deadline is fast approaching, but for many teams, it means waiting for the first domino to drop.

The Edmonton Oilers are said to be looking for help up front and they might already have a target in mind. In order to make a move however, they need to wait and see what the Toronto Maple Leafs will do ahead of the trade deadline.

Pierre LeBrun has revealed that the Calgary Flames are also looking for an offensive boost, but Darren Dreger believes it won’t stop the Oilers from going after three possible targets in Toronto as he mentioned during last night's segment of Insider Trading on TSN:

“The Battle of Alberta may drift off the ice as well because the Edmonton Oilers are also looking for a top-six forward. Not sure about the Flames but I believe the Edmonton Oilers are going to pay close attention to what happens with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Again, speculation around the likes of Kasperi Kapanen, Andreas Johnsson, maybe Alex Kerfoot.”

If the Oilers can stop the Flames from acquiring one of these talented talented, you can be sure they will get in the mix. The question is, what will the Leafs look to get in return. That will depending on which players can get back from injury prior to the deadline.

All about which domino falls first…
