A big deal on the horizon for Toronto?

It appears that the Leafs are working two different angles when it comes to trade talks.

TSN insider Darren Dreger is reporting that the Maple Leafs are actively shopping one of their young centers in 26-year-old Peter Holland. Dreger adds that it's no surprise Holland finds himself on the trading block largely due to the fact that he has unable to earn himself a consistent roster spot in the Leafs lineup.

The big news from Dreger however was confirmation that general manager Lou Lamoriello is currently looking around for a solid defenseman to help out his blue line.

"Lou Lamoriello is also looking for a shutdown defenseman,"added Dreger.

It's unclear if the two are connected, but if we're being honest there's not much chance a player like Peter Holland would earn you a significant return for your blue line unless you sweetened the deal quite a bit. There have been reports that Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ryan Murphy has been on the trading block for months now, so he may be one of Toronto's targets, although that is merely speculation on our part.
