It was expected, but happened late on Wednesday when the Toronto Maple Leafs finally had enough and made the trade to acquire backup goalie Jack Campbell and gritty forward Kyle Clifford, but it seems like there is still a lot remaining on GM Kyle Dubas’s plate.

Darren Dreger explained on Thursday’s Insider Trading on TSN that Dubas is still considering a move to land a top-four defenseman, especially with Morgan Rielly and Cody Ceci out of the lineup with injuries.

And he reminded fans big pieces are still on the block…

“They are in the market for another defenceman. Now there’s some things that might factor in. Cody Ceci is out with what I believe is a high ankle sprain. He’ll be re-evaluated probably in a month, so it could linger beyond that. What about Morgan Rielly? He’s expected to be re-evaluated in the near future, that could cause some impact and influence on a decision by Kyle Dubas as well. One of the key factors in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night was the fact that the Kings retained salary, so the Toronto Maple Leafs are in good position with [Kasperi]Kapanen, with [Andreas]Johnsson, maybe Alex Kerfoot, to make a deal if there’s the right deal.”

Fans had a lot to say about the latest trade and so we bet, no matter what Dubas chooses to do, people in Toronto will have an opinion on what needs to be done to get back in playoff contention.
