This just in, injured Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Travis Dermott will reportedly make his 2019-20 season debut tomorrow night when the Leafs take on the Washington Capitals.

This according to Leafs insider Kristen Shilton of TSN.

The 22 year old blueliner missed the entirety of training camp and the preseason after offseason shoulder surgery. His recovery took him half a year, so you could say that he’s very much looking forward to hitting the ice tomorrow night.

In 64 games last season, Dermott put up a stellar four goals and 17 assists. In 101 career games, Dermott has five goals and 30 points.

In other Leafs injury news, captain John Tavares continues to recover from a broken finger sustained just 11 days ago also in a game against the Capitals.

Since the captain’s injury, the team has gone 2-2-1 and haven’t looked particularly good. Saturday evening’s 5-2 loss at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens has Leafs Nation up in arms, screaming at the heavens for answers. Well… don’t jump off that bridge just yet, Leafs fans… JT is eyeing a return.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic reported earlier today that Tavares is “coming along” and managed to shoot some pucks today for the first time since suffering his injury.

Well… that’s… something?

While it certainly gives Leafs fans some hope, there’s still no timetable for Tavares’ return and the team desperately needs him back in the lineup.

In eight games so far this season, the 29 year old Tavares has three goals and seven points. He put up a career high 47 goals and 88 points in 82 games with the Leafs last season.
