A new coach means a new approach for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The team announced on Friday morning that they have loaned defenseman Martin Marincin to the Marlies in the American Hockey League.

Marincin is without a point in seven games with the Maple Leafs this season. He was last part of  the lineup on Nov. 2, which came after four games as a healthy scratch.

The 27-year-old appeared in 24 games with the Leafs last season and is a veteran of 208 NHL games.

Ever since his career started in the NHL, he has four goals and 30 points since debuting with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2013-14 season.

This is not the first thing that has been done differently by new head coach Sheldon Keefe. On Thursday, it was announced that the new bench boss opted to start recently recalled Michael Hutchinson against the Sabres on Friday afternoon in the first leg of a back-to-back against Buffalo.

Prior to the Keefe coaching era with Mike Babcock, starter Frederik Andersen would routinely play the team’s first game.

Albert Einstein said it best: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”
