This could be a huge blow for the team

In a key match-up against an opponent in the Atlantic Division, the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost one of their most consistent players. Goaltender Frederik Andersen started the game but did not come out for the second period. It was later announced that he was done for the night and backup Michael Hutchinson would fill in for the remainder of the game.

According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, it was a collision with Florida's Frank Vatrano that knocked Andersen out of the game. There are reports that he looked slow to get up a couple of times after that.

The Leafs are just two points ahead of the Panthers in the Atlantic Division, although Florida has two games in hand. The loss of Andersen for any amount of time would be a huge blow to the team. Hutchinson has been playing much better lately than he was at the first of the season. However, Andersen in Toronto's clear number one goaltender and missing any amount of time would be a tough break for the team. We're sure the leafs will have more to say about this one either following tonight's game or tomorrow.
