Leafs lose Muzzin to leg injury

Let’s hope Dermott is ready for the workload!

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin left Tuesday’s game against the Washington Capitals with a leg injury.

It’s a good thing the Leafs can count on the return of Travis Dermott, who was inserted back into the lineup tonight. The 22-year-old blue liner had been missing since the start of the season. He underwent shoulder surgery in May, after the Leafs were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Bruins, and was out of action ever since.

Muzzin skated for just over four minutes before leaving with the injury.

Capitals forward Tom Wilson handed a big hit on Muzzin, which appeared to catch his leg in a weird spot.

So far this season, the blue liner has three goals and nine points in 13 games.
