The Toronto Maple Leafs will get veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin back in the lineup when they take on the Nashville Predators in Nashville this evening.

The 30 year old blueliner had a brief conditioning stint with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies over the NHL All-Star break, playing just a single game. He hasn’t played in an NHL game since fracturing his foot on Dec. 27th, 2020.

Muzzin is expected to pair with Justin Holl on the team’s top pairing, while Travis Dermott and Tyson Barrie hold down the second pairing and Rasmus Sandin and Cody Ceci play third pairing minutes. Martin Marincin is expected to be a healthy scratch.

Forward Trevor Moore is also expected to make his return to action tonight after dealing with post-concussion symptoms since mid-December. He’ll slot in on the fourth line with Frederik Gauthier and Jason Spezza.

In other Leafs injury news, Auston Matthews is also expected to play this evening despite sitting out the All-Star game with a wrist injury.
