Some good news for the Toronto Maple Leafs as forward Trevor Moore is just about ready to get back in the lineup. He skated in regular line rushes in practice today. Head coach Sheldon Keefe says his status for tomorrow night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers will be confirmed in the morning.

Moore has skated in 21 games with Toronto this season, collecting two goals and three assists for five points. The 24-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in a game against the Boston Bruins in mid-November and was placed on injured reserve.

Meanwhile, with Moore’s imminent return, that meant salary cap space needed to be freed up in order to officially get him back on the roster. As a result, forward Nic Petan has been sent to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

This likely comes as no surprise to any Leaf fans. Petan has been up and down between the NHL and AHL a lot this season. He’s played 16 games with the Leafs, failing to score any goals and recording three assists. The 24-year-old has had a tough time finding a slot in Toronto’s lineup, and received just 8:24 of ice-time in last night’s 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames.
