There is major speculation regarding a potential trade in Toronto right now.

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kasperi Kapanen has been pulled out of the lineup just minutes before the start of tonight's game. Now to be clear this could be injury related, Kapanen was dealing with an injury to his elbow this week, but the timing of this would make that a rather odd decision just minutes prior to the game.

Kapanen has been the subject of rampant trade speculation for well over a year now and it is for that reason that this move has raised a ton of eyebrows in Toronto this evening. The dynamic forward has often been rumored as a potential trading chip that would allow Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas to add some talent to his blue line, but thus far no trade involving Kapanen has ever materialized.

Kapanen will be replaced by Dmytro Timashov in the lineup this evening.

Stay tuned for more details on this developing story.
