Leafs sign young defenseman on Tuesday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs orchestrated a minor signing on Tuesday.

According to reporter Mikael Lalancette of TVA Sports the Toronto Maple Leafs organization signed Quebec Major Junior Hockey League stand out Nikolas Brouillard to a contract with their American Hockey League affiliate the Toronto Marlies.

Brouillard has shown real flashes of brilliance, but injuries have presented major roadblocks in his career, including a serious knee injury immediately following Leafs training camp prior to the 2015-2016 season. If he can overcome those hurdles he could develop into a quality defenseman capable of taking on NHL minutes.
