The return of Cody Ceci for the Toronto Maple Leafs means a reassignment for one of the team's top prospects. The Leafs have announced that Timothy Liljegren has been returned to the Toronto Marlies.

According to Sportsnet's Chris Johstnon, with the trade deadline over Liljegren "can only return to the NHL this season if the Leafs run into injuries and recall him under emergency conditions, or once the Marlies year is over." With the Marlies well outside of an AHL playoff spot, there's a very good chance Liljegren joins the Maple Leafs again once the regular season ends.

The 20-year-old from Sweden as one assist in 11 games in the big league this season. In 38 games with the Marlies, Liljegren has five goals and 29 points in 38 games. Ceci's return, which happened in tonight'game against Anaheim, also brought the return of his$4.5 million per season cap hit, which means some tinkering with the Leafs' roster was required.
