Actions speak louder than words and Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is going with that approach. According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, the young player is not planning to negotiate a contract extension during the season.

Nylander has one year left on his entry-level deal before hitting restricted free agency. He became eligible to sign a new contract on July 1.

But for now, Nylander prefers to focus on the present, looking to better his rookie campaign in which he recorded 22 goals and 39 assists.

Looking at comparables and 2014 draft mates like Boston Bruins' David Pastrnak and Winnipeg Jets' Nikolaj Ehlers, we can have a good idea of what Nylander can be offered.

Pastrnak received a 6-year, $40 million extension, and yesterday, Ehlers signed a 7-year, $42 million deal.

We'll see what Nylander can do this season to up his value...
