Past and present Bruins players were at Fenway Park last night, commemorating future Hall of Famer slugger David Ortiz, who retired yesterday after a 13-year career with the Boston Red Sox.
A few present-day players, including Tuukka Rask, Adam McQuaid, Torey Krug were on the field, part of a farewell festivity for Ortiz.
“Being part of it was one of the cooler things that I’ve been a part of since moving to Boston,” said Krug. “He’s a pretty special human, to be honest, and somebody we could all learn from,” he added.
Among the greats present on the field was number 4 himself, Bobby Orr.
“There’s also always that shock and awe factor when you see [Orr], but he’s so personable and down-to-earth that he’s usually the one to come up, talk to you and break the ice. He’s such a great role model for hockey players,” explained McQuaid.
