Legendary Chicago based sportscaster Chet Coppock has died at age 70 as a result of his injuries suffered on April 6th, 2019 in Okatie, South Carolina after a tragic car accident. Coppock passed away in hospital care yesterday.

The Chicago Blackhawks issued a statement regarding Coppock’s passing earlier today:



If you’re unfamiliar with coppice, do yourself a favor and Google his name. He was one of the most flamboyant sportscaster’s of his time and there were even rumors that Will Ferrel’s character of Ron Burgundy from Anchorman was based on Coppock.

He’s hosted Wresltemania for the WWE, he’s wrestled bears both of the real and the NFL variety, he also hosted the Chicago Blackhawks Heritage Series and has emceed corporate sponsorship events for the Blackhawks featuring former NHL stars such as Bobby Hull, Tony Esposito and Denis Savard.
