No doubt about it, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s epic collapse to the Columbus Blue Jackets will string for Lightning fans the entire offseason. After putting up a historic 62 wins in the regular season, the Lightning absolutely face planted in the postseason, losing four straight to the plucky Blue Jackets.

Now, everything is up in the air. Do the Lightning need to make changes? If so, who stays and who goes? Do they fire head coach Jon Cooper? What’s the plan?

Earlier today Lightning general manager Julien Brisebois met with the media and was asked specifically about the future of Cooper. Keep in mind that Cooper recently signed a “multi-year” contract extension with the Lightning.

So anyone hoping to scoop up Cooper (Cooper Scooper?) this offseason will have to make other plans. And, despite the epic playoff fail, it’s obvious to see why. Cooper has been one of the best and most consistent coaches in the NHL since he arrived in the league back in 2012-13.
