Coach Quenneville Likely Switching Defensive Pairing

The Chicago Blackhawks are in Montreal tonight to face the Canadiens. Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville shook up his lines this morning.

The Blackhawks will have their usual top-six defensemen tonight but the pairings will be different from the usual. Coach Q explained his decision after the brief morning skate: “We’re going to change the D pairs a little tonight, see how that works out.”

Tonight is also a first matchup for Philippe Danault against his former team. Danault has been traded to Montreal last year for Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann. Danault is currently playing on Canadiens' first line and is having the best year of his young career with 10 goals and 22 assists so far.

Good for him. He's really progressed in the year,Quenneville said of Danault. “He's getting the opportunity to play more of an offensive situation. But you like the way he competes, you like the way he works and he added a little offense to his game, as well. You root for a guy like him. He's one of those guys that gives you more than an honest effort every single day. Good progression for him."

Here's the projected defensive pair

Duncan Keith-Niklas Hjalmarsson

Johnny Oduya-Brent Seabrook
