Logan Couture goes on bizarre rant, claims he was assaulted after showing support for Donald Trump

Someone want to check in on Logan Couture? He seems a little unhinged...

Late last night or early this morning depending on your perspective, San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture went on a bizarre Twitter rant in which he claims he was assaulted in Toronto for expressing his support for Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Here's the Tweet in question:

Okay... there's a lot going on here. Let's try to break it down.

The first weird thing to me... who says, "Toronto, Ontario"? You can just call it Toronto, Logan. Don't be weird.

Secondly, you were sucker punched for simply mentioning Donald Trump by name? If true that's reprehensible. But something tells me that there's probably more to this story than Couture is letting on. 

Thirdly, Couture is a Canadian citizen. As such, he's not even eligible to vote in the United States. Yet he's talking about voting for the Republican Party? Uh... what?

Again, something is just off here. And if you head to the comment section of Couture's tweet things get even weirder. 

Couture seemed to mistake one commenter for Sportsnet broadcaster Tara Slone, he then claimed that he'll never appear on Sportsnet again. He then denounced his support for Trump and the Republican Party. Again, the commenter was NOT Slone.

Bizarre... but things get even more bizarre.

When asked by a commenter what the point of his tweet is, Couture says that his father is a police officer.

Okay then... again I feel like we're missing some key context here, Logan. Something is surely missing from this story and I'm willing to bet it's the part that doesn't case Couture himself in the best possible light. If Couture is trying to make a larger point that politics in 2020 do nothing more than the help segregate people and ideas, then I'm with you. We live in the most politically charged time in recent history and it's not uncommon for people to cast judgement on you for your political beliefs. Worse than that, some people take things past judgement and into verbal and physical assault, which is obviously reprehensible. What ever happened to live and let live? Can't we all just get along, people?
