Lou Lamoriello lays down some new rules for his players.

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello has always had the reputation of ruling over his teams with an iron fist and on Tuesday we got confirmation that the Leafs are no exception.

In an interview with Michael Traikos of the National Post, recently acquired Leafs forward Matt Martin revealed that his agent informed him when negotiating with the Leafs that there would be special rules under Lamoriello.

“It was my agent who brought it up to me,” said Martin. “I don’t know the exact rules, but (GM Lou Lamoriello) wants guys to be clean shaven and have relatively short hair. I’ve been playing in the league long enough to know that’s what he wants.”

Lamoriello's rules appear to be known at least to some around the league, and it seems likely that opinions from both fans and players on this topic vary. After all the strict nature of the veteran general manager has earned him the nickname of “Tal-Lou-Ban.”
