Lucic and Giordano surprise 13 year old hockey player who just lost his dad.

The current pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone but there are those among us who have lost loved ones who are going through an especially trying time. Whether the loss be due to natural circumstances, the virus, or otherwise, those difficult moments become even more difficult for the loved ones left behind due to these trying circumstances.

Unfortunately a young minor hockey player by the name of Raiden is among those who has suffered such a loss and in the case of Raiden it is his father that has suddenly passed away. Losing your father is a horrible ordeal at any point in a man's life but for Raiden, who is only 13 years old, it is especially difficult. Raiden despite being very young is the oldest of 4 children and will no doubt have to shoulder many of the responsibilities that his father once held, but thankfully it seems like he's going to have some help moving forward.

For one Raiden himself shows incredibly fortitude having returned to his hockey team just a week after the passing of his father and even picking up a goal in his first game, but he also appears to have a good support group around him and some extra special support as well. This week the Calgary Flames went above and beyond the call of duty when they sent both forward Milan Lucic and defenseman Mark Giordano to meet with Raiden and the two men even spent some time on the ice with the younger man in spite of the ongoing pandemic. The two National Hockey League veterans spent some time in the locker room speaking with Raiden about the loss of his father and offered him words of encouragement, but the topic quickly turned to Raiden's size given that he was standing as tall as the two grown men, albeit with skates on his feet.

It was a heartwarming moment overall and perhaps the best part of the encounter was that Raiden's teammates were also able to enjoy meeting the two Flames' stars, players that no doubt they have all looked up to at one point or another as young hockey players.
