Major developments in Sabres search for a GM.

The Buffalo Sabres search for a new general manager is in full effect and there have been a ton of new developments in the past few days.

First, the Sabres were rumored to be extremely interested in New York Rangers assistant general manager Chris Drury, however when they reached out to the Rangers for permission to speak to Drury, the Sabres hit a wall and were denied. While this has effectively removed Drury's name from the list of rumored candidates, there are now at least three more people on list.

A report from John Vogl of the Buffalo News has since confirmed that the Sabres are once again speaking to Michael Futa, a Los Angeles Kings assistant general manager who had been previously targeted by the Sabres before they made the decision to hire Tim Murray back in 2014.

Vogl also reports that two members of Pittsburgh's senior staff are also on the radar and in fact he reports that the Sabres have already talked with associate general manager Jason Botterill and assistant general manager Bill Guerin.

No word yet on who has the inside track and that may very well be because no one has the inside track just yet as this appears to be a very fluid situation in Buffalo.
