Six teams in the Western Conference, the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets, are staying at the nearby Sutton Place Hotel, which is about a five-minute walk to Rogers Place.

However, only the Flames were on the ice last night to cool off… We explain: Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug of TSN has reported that the air conditioning at the Sutton didn’t work all day on Tuesday, when it was 32 degrees out.

While someone inside the hotel commented that it wasn’t too bad, we don’t know if the situation affected the sleep of the players, who are getting ready for the 24-team playoff tournament later this weekend.

Clearly the heat might have affected the Flames, who were the only team staying at Sutton Place Hotel that played an exhibition game yesterday. They lost 4-1 at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers.

Rishaug did make light of the situation, probably because most players were able to do so, saying that at least the beer was cold.

Top priorities first!
