Concussions have been the major concern for the NHL and the NHLPA for the last few years, since a lawsuit weights above their head. Player's story like Mike Peluso, former enforcer in the NHL, are horrific. Peluso admitted he thought about suicide for a while and that his brain is damaged for goods, the results of too many concussions that haven't been healed well.

Thanks to Dr. Douglas Fraser, stories like that may never happen again. " A new study has found that a form of blood profiling known as 'metabolomics' can provide concussion assessments with up to 92 percent accuracy." reported CBC earlier today.

"This pattern can be determined by a simple blood test, provided the test is taken within 72 hours of the brain trauma.  Analysing the pattern of metabolites in the blood over time can also help determine when a full recovery has been made.". This could be the major progress the NHLPA has been awaiting for years.
