The Detroit Red Wings and their fanbase have been hoping to get defenseman Danny DeKeyser back in the lineup shortly, however, something is wrong and head coach Jeff Blashill couldn’t keep it quiet anymore on Tuesday.

DeKeyser, who sustained an undisclosed injury back on Oct. 22, was expected to return to action around Nov. 8, however, the blue liner isn’t back in the fold.

On Tuesday, Blashill finally revealed to team insider Ansar Khan of MLive that DeKeyser has made no progress and won’t be back anytime soon.

The Wings bench boss did not give further information on whether DeKeyser had sustained a significant setback in his recovery process. It just seems clear that his absence will stretch into the season and that his veteran presence will be missed some more on a young Detroit blue line.

As for now, the 29-year-old remains on the team’s injured reserve and is now expected to be out indefinitely.

Tough blow for the Red Wings.
